Okay, since there has been very little response to Dark heresy, anyone feel like Shadowrun?
Game would be weekly, sometime in the weekend, probably starting properly in April. Hopefully sorting out character gen before then. Curreently have 2 players, need at least one more in order to get the game going properly. For those of you who don't know what Shadowrun is, Its a cyber-punk game set about 70 years in the future, you play a team of shadowrunners. Elite mercenaries working for megacorperations/Crime bosses/Disgruntled exes, anyone you can pay you basically. It also includes fantasy elements, players can be mages as well as elves, orcs, dwarves and trolls. So, anyone interested? |

Hi, Caleb. Are you interested in playing or only DMing?

Thats a good question, I'd be happy with either really.
On one hand its been a while since I've GMed anything and on the other I really want to try playing an Ork face |

Just a plug for the Ptolus campaign I was trying to put together (seeing as you are so close). But I'm guessing it's considered bad form to hijack other people's threads..
(Anyway, if you're interested, by all means respond on the Ptolus campaign thread.) |

Hi,
I'd definitely be interested in Dark Heresy. Was very pleasantly surprised when I stumbled over the book in Borders (and less pleasantly surprised when I read a week later that all support for all RPGs was being dropped by Black Industries so they could concentrate on their novelisations). Also, I happen to have a bunch of home brew rules for a 40K expansion of the WHFR rules that I stumbled across on the net many years ago. Should mesh with Dark Hersey quite well. Might even have the original Rogue Trader book somewhere as well. April would also suit me well as work is bloody mad at the moment. I live in islington so Finsbury would be easy. cheers Martin |

Oh, thats great. Means Dark heresy could be a go then.
What I was doing was tracking down all the stuff for Inquisitor and using that, its all fairly easy to port across in the Dark heresy system. Yeah, I was dissapointed that they canned the line immediately as it looks really good so far. I think they're doing three supplements and then thats it. So, we should meet up in person at some point in order to sort things out and make certain that you're not an axe wielding maniac. How are you for over the Easter holidays? |

Oh, hadn't heard of Inquisitor - (one Google later) - yeah it does looks very similar, though still very humanity focused it would appear. Things have clearly moved on since the days I played tabletop WH40K, though I've caught up a bit on the new races playing Dawn of War. Still got a ton of eldar miniatures buried somewhere - though little else unfortunately.
My family aren't quite as far away as I assume yours are but I'll be up in Cumbria visiting them over Easter so would have to be some time following week. What would you propose ? A nice evening walk along some deserted canal towpath perhaps ;) ? Or we could be all conventional and get the prospective players together for a pint maybe ? Discuss the chars etc... |

Dragging eveyone together for a pint is probably the way to go.
Then you can draw straws to see who has to play the Psyker, some poor bastard has to do it. The other two people wanting to play both want to work for the Ordo Malleus as daemonhunters, they felt it was the closest to 'good guys' they could get in the inquisition. So, very humanocentric but given as I'm painting some Eldar as we speak its quite likely they at least will make an appearance. You're more likely to run into minor alien races (like the Hrud) or horrifying unique monstrosities than the major Xenos species. |

Oh, I think I'd be quite happy to be the Void born Psyker - though I've still to read up on the rules properly. What I'd really like though is an Eldar character - a Warlock or Harlequin - though whether that suits your intended campaign direction I don't know. From my recollection of the fluff, the Inquisition are one of the few sections of the Imperium that do have some benign contact with the Eldar, as they both despise Chaos so much - with some Inquisitors allegedly invited to the Black Libray by the Harlequins.
I could get around the general xenophobic nature of the Imperial worlds with the Shape Flesh Biomancy power, perhaps with a suitable Eldar gizmo to help mitigate the upkeep costs (with appropriate failure risks during times of stress naturally ;) When you say Ordo Malleus - do you mean as fully qualified Inquisitors (!) or working for the Ordo Malleus as acolytes ? |

Yes the eldar do have dealings with the inquistion. Or more specifically with the Ordo Malleus and only Ordo Malleus.
Now the problem is that eldar are significantly better than humans, natural psychic abilities, agility in the 40-50 range etc. This could be rectified by giving less fate points, but fate points are really important. Second problem (yes I have given some thought to this) is that they use psychic powers in a very different way to humans, their path system would map directly onto careers however. Oh, and on an unrelated note you couldn't be a warlock or a harlequin. Warlocks are ex-aspect warriors (i.e. on their second career path) and harlequins are unbelively deadly. We may be able to work something out about a seer or more likely a ranger/corsair. Rangers could just follow a slightly modified imperial career path (assassin?) while corsairs would be scumm? Also we are talking about playing acolytes. Acolytes of an inquisitor so expects a high degree of self-reliance ;-) |
