LOTR game

Hi!

I've already put up a notice about Fading Suns, but general interest hasn't been overwhelming so far, so I want to offer an alternative:

I am also interested in playing Decipher's Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game. Could do both narrator/GM, or participate in a group. Again, both one-offs on a regular basis and a campaign are possible. I'm living in Hampstead, and have access to a space we should be able to use, so all I need is gamers!
I've had over 12 years of RPG experience, starting off with MERP/Rolemaster, and then moving on to LOTR, but I'm also more than happy to introduce newbies to the game and J.R.R. Tolkien's world!

Hi, I'm a newbie but I've got a pretty solid grasp of the D&D/roleplaying concept etc. (I've got got a whole bookshelf of related literature) and I don't mind playing anything or any character as long as it's not out and out evil alignment or the equivalent (but apart from that I'm totally flexible).

If you can use me let me know and I'll pick up a LOTR rulesbook (let me know the edition etc.).

Sounds great Chris. If we get two more people together, we can get going. You're the first one to reply so far, and I do think that 3 players is a minimum. So, if you know anybody - ask them! I will do the same, and keep you posted about the development!

I'd definitely be interested in a good LotR game. My introduction to RPGs was MERP actually and I have a shed load of the modules but never really met enough Tolkein fans who wanted to play the game. I've got the Decipher game and I like what they've tried to do to capture the spirit of the world. I think it's a bit too magic heavy though in the manner they've literally taken every "spell" ever mentioned in the books and imported it into the game. Read about some poor design in the char gen as well, though nothing that couldn't be avoided.

Part of me would just love to play MERP again or even better Rolemaster which I also bought all the books for but never actually got to play. As a very magic heavy sytem though they are probably even less appropriate though (for 3rd age at least).
