OK here is a better overview than the one I posted. (and a few corrections LOL)
The game rules are based off the D20 Modern rule set with a few modification and house rules.
The game setting is the Greater Seattle area during late 1999 (at the whole Y2K thing). Characters all start as "normal" humans (no magic, just a basic person that you think would be living at this time and place) as the game starts events will happen and you will become aware of other realities that are bleeding into our own (while there is other stuff going on too, one of the first parts of the game involves finding out why and how this is happening) and have been for some time but no one notices.
Most house rules will be gone over during character creation but here are some basics: A Character starts as a basic level 0 class (this also works out giving you bonus skills, hp, etc as the game progresses) and through roleplay you will become a level 1 "Hero". You must have 4 levels of basic classes before you can pick up an advanced class. Also depending on what happens in roleplay the DM may limit the pool of classes you have to choose from or "unlock" others and make them available. And remember, this is the Information age so knowledge skills are your friend.
There are some elements of the story that are based on real life people, places, or events but some aspects may be altered by the DM to better fit the storyline. Other things have been taken from pop culture, like the Frog Brothers (grown up about 10-15 years) from the movie "The Lost Boys".
But for the most part. It is Seattle in 1999.
The game will be at my place in Marysville and looks like it will be on Sundays from noon to 8. But the day and time is flexible based on the group needs.
